Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that breaks traditional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the official statement, "A strange meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of banned practices and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The narrative features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden sect.
The adventure focuses on "bizarre trials and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Changes
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Bonus Features
Players who accomplish the quest will acquire an exclusive katana together with several artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Content
This update also adds the game's latest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Collaborations
This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that unmistakably echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
